There are a number of types of financial aid – need based, merit, gift, helf-help, federal, state, scholarships, private scholarships, special state programs, etc.
How are you supposed to keep it all straight?
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the gate keeper for much of the money, but not all of it. The Department of Education oversees this program, and defines terms differently from the IRS, your CPA, your wealth manager or your investment advisor does. Completing this form correctly is critical to your college financial aid. 18% of all financial aid monies come directly from the schools. We prepare your situation, then the forms, in order to legally maximize your aid (merit and need based) eligibility.
As A Certified College Planning Specialist, Katherine O’Brien can guide you through the maze to the most amount of aid dollars possible, no matter your income.
Those who get the most aid are those who understand the rules!
If you’d rather not have to deal with the financial aid paperwork at all, we can do it for you.
